Like a Record Baby…

So when my buddies mysteriously disappear, there’s no way curiosity isn’t going to get the better of this cat and to hunt them down. I was saddened when Metro quickly disappeared shortly after mentioning that the Mayor of his town, of all people, wanted a personal meeting with him. Then nothing, for nearly two weeks. Naturally I made the trip and went looking in the last place I knew he was, and was surprised to find a new carnival opening up there. The mayor and carnival boss have insisted that Metro is helping pay off a debt by helping with the behind the scenes work, but they expect his contract to be rather long term. I know the tell tale signs of being lied to and wasn’t satisfied, asking to be able to speak to him.

As someone went along to fetch him, I was shown by the owner not one but two of the starring attractions: a bright palomino carousel pony that metro had apparently helped build was the first. It looked a little off I must admit. The neck wasn’t quite long enough and the legs were a little wonky, but the bows, saddle and even velvet shiny stockings somewhat masked the anatomical differences. As the guy rattled on about the hard work Metro was doing for them I was a little lulled, glad he’d found something to dedicate his time to. Still, it was a little strange that he would seemingly cut corners like that.

The other attraction was one of the parks mascots: a pretty little pony that definitely appeared plucked right out of MLP. Apparently they were still looking for a performer, and hearing those words, I excitedly asked if it would fit me, and if I could try it on? I was ecstatic when he told me it was made for someone just my height, and couldn’t resist. But I had something even better in mind. I handed him my phone and insisted he take some pictures of me actually riding on Annabelle while in the suit! A pony riding a pony was a photo opportunity I hadn’t seen come up before, and I wanted to make it a reality. I knew Metro would find the image amusing, especially when he realised who was in the pony suit!

Before I knew it, I was suited up, had jumped on board Annabelle, and the ride was in motion! The suit was one of those kinds where the wearers whole face was visible out of the open mouth. I’d never been a big fan of suits like those; I felt like they ruined the magic too much, but I was still planning to make the most of this while I could.

The first few loops were fun. I whinnied and neighed and got a little caught up in the moment as we bobbed up and down. But the second time around, something seemed a little off. I’d thought it was the engine jittery inside the merry go round, but the more I sat there and felt what I was sitting on, the more it dawned on me that the carousel horse I was on was shaking. Something was banging and rattling around inside like a loose piece of metal.

Trying my best to hear it over the entrancing music looping with us, I leaned down and listened for what it might be. What I heard chilled me. Mumbling, muffled cries from within the Annabelle head. No way! There was someone inside this thing!

Could it be… “METRO?!” I shouted.

CLANK!

The pony head slammed shut on me, plunging me into darkness. Oh no…

Ok like Differus this one doesn’t really surprise me. Metro has been discussing in great detail with me about this character Anabelle of his, and the direction some of these pictures might be going down, so it only figures I’d end up writing something big to go with them. And yes, this may just be a sequel bait…
