1 In my headcannon, Sassy Saddles and Fleur de Lis were best friends from a young age and Sassy Saddles, wasnt born female. Originally, his name was Carnelian and was from a modest family of jewelry and gemstone polishers. Fleur was from a poor family and met Carnelian in school. They automatically became the best of friends and did everything together. Throughout Carnelian's childhood, he struggled with his identity and though he was young, he still felt as though he was always meant to be a mare. While playing together one day after school, Carnelian struggled with how he was going to tell Fleur. He didnt want Fleur to think he was strange and stop being his friend, but he didnt want to keep it from her either. Of course, Fleur picked up on her friend's uneasiness and asked what was troubling him. Carnelian anxiously explained to Fleur his feelings as his fur grew hot and tears formed in their eyes. Fleur placed a gently hoof on her friend`s shoulder and reassured him that no matter what he decided, she would always be her friend. With her magic, Fleur tied the friendship bracelets she finished around their wrists and the two embraced.
Over the years, Carnelian still hid his feelings from his parents but once he was old enough and could leave home, he explained everything to his parents. He was no longer Carnelian, she was Sassy Saddles and wanted to become a fashion designer. Of course, her parents didnt take this well at first and Saddles was forced out on her own. Luckily she had made a modest bit of selling some of her designs and could afford a small home. Fleur lived and helped Saddles for a little while before Fleur met a stallion named Fancy Pants. They met while Fleur was at work at the local bookstore and he instantly was in love with the mare. He came from a long line of wealthy unicorns and made quiet the name for himself as well. For a few weeks, Fancy took up resident in town and would frequently visit Fleur and take her out before asking that she moved to Canterlot with him. Of course this was a major question for Fleur as her parents still relied on part of her income to survive and Saddles would be left behind. It took some convincing but in the end Fancy Pants won over Fleur by saying that if she moved in with him, he would ensure her parents lived comfortably. So, Fleur began to pack her things.
Before she left, Fleur ensured her parents had everything they needed and they did. Fancy Pants set them up with plenty of money and whenever they needed more they only need ask. When the day came for her to move, Fleur was downcast and found it difficult to pack those final boxes. "Whats wrong, Flurry?" Saddles asked her friend. "I just… its going to be so hard leaving mom, dad, and you. You're all i've known," Fleur responded with a sniffle. Saddles gently raised her darling friends chin and reassured her, "we will be here for you, and ill always be your friend, forever". Fleur smiled and embraced her friend. Together they carried Fleurs luggage to the train depot and loaded it aboard, Fleur giving a final hug to her parents and best friend before climbing aboard with Fancy Pants and leaving her childhood behind.
- Fleur and Saddles stayed in touch even when Fleur moved away and when Fleur was married to Fancy Pants she made sure Saddles was the best mare at their wedding. When it came time to start their family, Fancy Pants found out he, actually couldn't have children. This made the stallion incredibly sad as he so desperately wanted a child of his own with his darling Fleur. So, this sparked a frantic search to find the perfect donor to produce a child with Fleur. The prospect of carrying a strangers child frightened Fleur beyond belief. She understood Fancy wanted a foal and she did too, but she wasnt willing to let it be the donor of just any pony! It was also difficult because Fancy had old traditions stuck in him. He wanted to keep his bloodline pure and have a pureblooded unicorn be the donor as his family had been pureblooded. Since so many species had mixed during the most recent centuries, it seemed nearly impossible. During an argument, Fleur accidentally mentioned that the only stallion shed be comfortable with donating would be Sassy Saddles! Up to this point, Fancy had no idea Saddles had once been a stallion, but this was great news! Saddles had had some cosmetic surgery to look more like a mare but had yet to change their genetic parts so she was still completely fertile, and, she came from a line of purebred unicorns. This sparked Fancy to invite Saddles to their home for a 'simple visit' but while she was visiting, Fancy dropped the big question.
"Saddles. As you may know, Fleur and i are looking to expand our family, but unfortunately i am unable to have them. So, we were wondering if you might be willing to be our sperm donor. I know this may be shocking to hear as not even i had known about your past as a colt, but please dont think this will change how i refer to you or view you. We are asking genuinely, as you friends, please, help us"
Saddles was absolutely stunned to hear this and looked to Fleur who gave an ashamed look to her friend before looking away. Gaping and unable to speak, there were a million things flying through Saddles mind. Most heavy, was how in love with Fleur she had been, all their lives. Saddles of course had kept this a secret from Fleur, afraid of how she may have reacted and never told her. Now she was being asked to be the father of her best friends child… for another man. Part of Saddles wanted to refuse, but in the end, they accepted and would become the donor father of Fleur and Fancy's child.
When the day came for Fleur to give birth, Fancy ended up being away on a business trip and Saddles had been around to take care of Fleur the few days leading up to her expected due date. So when Fleurs water broke, Saddles sprung into action and rushed Fleur to the hospital where she gave birth to her son, Morning Flower Silk, or just Moore for short.
Older Moore when he started private school and met Azure, the son of singer Rara and seamstress Coco Pommel. Azure had a major crush on Moore and was always trying to serenade him, and he still does.
