Another quiet, silent night for the hive. Elytrus stood in the throne room looking outside the window with a grimace. The hive’s source of stable food was running dry. Over the many years, ponies had grew more hatred for one another and the town has began to shrunk in size. It was an annoying situation, and now more of his hive have become starved. They’d have to move more towards Chrysalis’ territory in order to feed.
Chrysalis’s Hive and Elytrus had always been competing for food. Which fancied them as enemies. Elytrus knew he must either make a treaty with the dastardly Changeling queen or take it by force. His soldiers were weak from the lack of love and he knew Chrysalis had a large hive. At their current state, they had no chance at defeating her. Elytrus growled to himself “Pathetic…” His anger grew silently. What had his great hive become? What would he do? He began walking to his throne.
“Cicada.” He said firmly out loud, and watched as a young changeling soldier entered the room. Elytrus sat down on his cold throne and stared down at the drone. He knew he must talk to rivaling queen. They needed to form a treaty as much as it hurt his pride. The colony needed him to act of good judgment to survive. “Go and send message to the northern hive. Tell them that I request an audience with the queen”
“Yes sir right away.” Cicada said before bowing and briskly leaving. Elytrus watched his solider leave and signed. He hoped this would work….

Elytrus stood in the throne room of Chrysalis’ hive. He stared blankly as the other royal stood staring back down at him. Around him he could hear the changeling drones of this hive buzzing about and talking. Chrysalis smirked. “Welcome Elytrus”
“Emperor Elytrus” He snapped back, causing Chrysalis to laugh.
“Of course Emperor. What brings you to my lovely kingdom?” Chrysalis said smugly. She knew exactly why Elytrus was here and it was disgusting. Elytrus took a deep breath before bowing his head to show respect. He brought his head back up before speaking once more.
“Our supply of food in our territory is depleted. My hive is starving. So I ask for a piece of your territory. And in return my hive will not attack yours. We bring peace.”
“Peace?” Chrysalis said with a sneer. “Is that all you have to offer?”
“Yes peace. You know our hives have been at each other’s throats for generations. You give us territory to feed, and we won’t attack you.” Elytrus said, his voice deep.
Chrysalis laughed out loud before stepping off the throne. She took steps towards him.
“If I wanted to, I could OBLITERATE your small pathetic colony if I wanted to. You’ve grown weak Elytrus. Your whole hive is” Chrysalis stood in front of him, looking at him straight in the eyes.
“So you leave my kin to die?” Elytrus said with an anger in his voice.
“No. No I offer you something else.” Chrysalis said before beginning to circle the other royal.
“You see. I need help actually. What if there was a way all changeling kind could thrive forever? To feast on love with no worries and for our hives to never starve again.” Chrysalis said, now behind him, leaning her head to his ear. “We could be powerful. Together. What I’m saying is what if we took over Equestria?”
“After saying your tribe could obliterate mine, you think I could help you in taking over Equestria? Defeat the princesses?” Elytrus stepped forward to get away from her before laughing. “Honestly Chrysalis your stupidity amazes me sometimes”
“Stupidity?! You know it’s stupid if you don’t accept my deal.”
“What exactly do you want me to do then? Force our kind into an all out war with Celestia? That’s idiotic. At that point if we get obliterated all changeling kind will end up starving. Why do you want to take over the entirety of Equestria anyways? You get enough sustenance from your hunting territory anyways.” Elytrus spat back.
Chrysalis stood silent. She flicked her ears back before stomping a hoof on the ground. “Do you really want to live this miserable life? To hide in the shadows and be considered lesser beings to these damn ponies? I am offering a chance at greatness for all of us.”
“So your only real motive is to become superior beings?” Elytrus said now baring his teeth. “Damn you are a joke! The state of my kin are on the she stop playing these games!”
“GAMES?! YOU BRAT. You’ll see when the ponies kill us all. They know of us now and fear us. Don’t you get it?!” Chrysalis began to yell, now baring her teeth.
“You insignificant VERMIN. You’re afraid! Because you let ponies know we’re still out here and feasting on them. You really are stupid. I knew something was up. Your tribe is weak now too isn’t it!? I should just kill you now.” Elytrus said his mandibles extending out as he struck her down to the ground. He stopped once he heard guards coming in to rush. He could’ve ended things now but he instead calmed down and turned away to leave.
“I’ll think about it. Next time don’t be stupid.”
