So my head cannon for Cadence is that she is the decedent of the last queen of the Crystal empire, an earth pony who had to flee the country when Sombra took over. The name "Mi Amore Cadenza" was passed down from her.
She got the unicorn from her fathers side. Became an Alicorn the same time as she got her cutie mark, which is when she created love when- at the moment at least- there was none. Which is unethical, but lets ignore that.
