This is an image I made as cover art for an upcoming short story I am working on with the working title "Leaving the Hive". It's about how Thorax tries reforming more changelings after his rebellion and has to deal with his brother Pharynx and my OCs Scutellum and Elytra, both of whom play roles in my series "Flurry Heart's Story" in the first and most recent episode.

I've you've read my stories before, you know that Scutellum is fiercely loyal to Queen Chrysalis but Elytra wants to defect. Well this is long before Elytra has her heel-turn and joins the others, so she is not there just yet. While she is far more rational than Scutellum, she is still loyal to Chrysalis, especially since she was one of Chrysalis's favorites and even called her "Mother". And of course we all know what happens to Pharynx, hence the reason why he looks like he's trying to diffuse the situation here. Since Pharynx eventually reforms in the show, this story will not only show what causes Elytra to eventually leave, but it also sets up for Pharynx's arc.

I had to draw a LOT of changelings yesterday to make this and now have looks for what Scutellum and Elytra looked like when they were younger. I had made a template for reformed changelings in the past with my older Ocellus, but I used it for all those others in the background and even made all of Ocellus's family. Ocellus will also have an important role to play in this story. She and Elytra were best friends before the rebellion.
