Description:

But that may have to wait a little longer. I think we’ll be having another visit from ‘Her Britannic Majesty’ some time soon and though keeping tabs on these clowns as they attempt to make a silk purse out of a pony’s ear is amusing, it is rather fraught with risk for an…individual of my occupation.

Here are those two links I mentioned. TTFN tumblr.

Transcript taken from AFTER EIGHT & SKETCHY SOUNDS

SS: “Hmmm…Not too sure about this one, Afters.”

AE: “What do you mean?”

SS: “Wasn’t there something on that list…hang on <rustle> Yeah, here. ‘Princess Britannia must not appear to be excessively or overwhelmingly knowledgeable, nor use jargon as this can be off-putting to your casual internet browser.’”

AE: “sigh I know, I know. But how do you answer a question like that? 'Teehee, Don’t ask me, I’m just a Princess’?

SS: "No but, 'Appropriate’, 'indisputably’…You do know about plain speaking, right? Sometimes you should use a short word rather than a long one.”

AE: “What Princesses do you know of that don’t show off their education in some way though…particularly one that’s supposed to be British? On the web Britishness is thought of as being synonymous with a certain wordiness to the point of being bafflingly indecipherable.”

SS: “Like you, you mean?”

AE: “Hey there’s nothing wrong with having an extensive vocabulary. And no, not all short words are best suited. For instance, the word 'Bad’. is not the same as 'terrible’ or 'excruciating’ or 'execrable’ . Long words exist for a reason. they cover more specific meanings than short ones do.”

SS: The point is that she’s not supposed to use them… And, actually, since you bring it up. Apart from Princess Sparkle, a lot of Princesses use plain speaking. The Celestial ones especially if you actually listen. They’ve got plain public speaking down to an art and they don’t sound like they’ve swallowed a thesaurus.“

AE: "Are you forgetting 'The Royal Canterlot Voice’?

SS: "That’s a problem with volume, not the way she actually speaks. And also, for that matter. I would hardly put Princess Britannia in the same league as Princess Sparkle.”

??: “Excuse me, I’m still here you know.”

AE: “Oh, yes, of course, Miss. We were…um…just discussing some possible re-writes to the script.”

??: More re-writes? Ugh, you’re fussier than Photo Finish—and I honestly never thought that possible! Just tell me, do you need me to stay here much longer or can I go back to my dressing-room now?”

AE: “Of course not, we have everything we need. Take five.”

SS: “Oh I dunno. Depends what we write, I mean, I’m not too sure about that sixth panel…”

AE: “What’s wrong with it?”

SS: “Don’t you see? Right there, her expression’s all wrong. Also perhaps we should scrap the ones with the history lesson. that last point about friendship and how it links with the con is all we really need.”

AE: “But point 18 on the list clearly states ‘The Mascot must make reference to British culture as a means of making it unique compared to other cons.”

??: “It?”

AE: “Oh, not you, this is just the wording used.”

?? “Well. If it’s words that are the issue here then I suppose ‘it’ is going to ‘its’ dressing room. This helmet is like an oven beneath these lights, to say nothing of how ruinous it is to my coiffure.” <Hoofsteps>

SS: “Woah, wait, Miss D-”

<Doorslam>

AE: “Looks like that will be all the shoots for today then.”

ISO, Camera-pony: “Does that mean I get a break too?”

(Evidently they decided to go with the original take)
