Here’s the next 100 Themes pic boys and girls!! Starring the suave/crafty, slimy/cowardly, Dr. Caballeron!

And his new friend I made… But we’ll get to that. X3

Context time!!

Okay, first off, the theme word itself, “Heaven”. I decided not to go too literal here with this theme. No afterlife style heaven here. Just Calby having a, well, ROUGH day, and basically going to his happy place. What he WISHES he had: Sun, relaxation, and a… beautiful view. And on that note, let me introduce you to the lovely zebra seen here.

Her name is Zhenga, my first zebra MLP OC. Now originally, when planning this picture, she was just going to be a nameless, imaginary piece of eye-candy in Caballeron’s head. But as I drew her, I kind of fell in love with her design and REALLY wanted to make her into an actual character in the ShadOVerse. And additionally… I’ve kind of started shipping her with Caballeron… HARD. Didn’t help that when I was sharing the lineart with some friends a couple of them started going “Caballeron/Zebra OTP!!” before she even had a name. Thanks guys. XD

So yeah, there you go… my first OC/Canon MLP pairing. Interesting way to get a ship started, I’ll say that much. But seriously, it’s going to be so much fun developing Zhenga as a character and exploring her relationship with the good Doctor here. And this picture could take place any time. This could be after they’re formally in a relationship, or this could just be Calby dreaming about the pretty girl he met not too long ago. I kind of like the latter, personally.

Lastly, I’m just really excited about this picture and what this project has done for my views of Dr. Caballeron. For a long time, I just kind of wrote him off as just a cowardly slimeball. A great foil and antagonist for Daring, but not a character that got much more than scorn from me. But sitting down and forcing myself to think more about him has led to some REALLY interesting headcanons and ideas developing. You’ll see more of them detailed in future art, but bascially, Calby’s turning into this really messed up guy that I just feel BAD for. Someone so gripped by his vices that he’s slowly ruining his life, constantly striving for fleeting and shallow material goals that never satisfy and… sigh hugs Calby
