Clear Sky and Twilight knew each other, briefly, when Twilight was living in Canterlot. They weren't close, they knew each other about as well as Twilight knew Minuet or Lemon Hearts, but they got along well enough. They didn't meet again until years later, after Clear divorced her husband and Twilight had become an alicorn. They ran into each other at a library and decided to catch up after over 5 years. While they knew each other before, things were so different now that it was like talking to a whole new person. And they realized... they liked what they saw. Twilight was intelligent and kind, if a bit awkward, and Clear was warmhearted and understanding and funny... and pretty. It didn't take long, but Twilight was smitten.

Twilight's friends had been getting hitched and having kids left and right, and it wasn't until then that Twilight realized a part of her longed to settle down as well. Twilight's young adulthood had been eclipsed by drama, stress, and world-ending calamities, and there was something so comforting about being around Clear Sky. No shenanigans, no expectations, just an old friend in a library. But who's to say Clear felt the same? She had a kid and an Ex-Husband to deal with, she wouldn't want Equestria's most eggheaded princess, would she?

Well, Clear Sky didn't think of Twilight that way at first. She was a friend, and Clear was glad that she could maintain a relationship with her even after she became a princess. Twilight was sweet and smart and beautiful and beloved by her community, and Clear wasn't oblivious to the heat that rose to both of their cheeks when they saw each other. There was something there. But Clear Sky had rushed into relationships before, and she knew love at first sight when she saw it. She didn't want to get either of their hopes up only for the relationship to not work out. She couldn't do that to Twilight, herself, or her daughter.

But surprisingly, it was Wind Sprint who ended up being the catalyst. She'd seen her mom try her luck with many different stallions over the years, and very few of them stuck. She saw how this affected her mother, and seeing how hung up she was on the Princess of Friendship of all ponies was... tiresome, at best. At the very least, she didn't want to see her mom beating herself up over this any more than she already had. So she got into contact with Spike, who she already was acquainted with, to set up a blind date. It went off without a hitch, although neither mare was particularly pleased about being mislead by their kid. But the two had a very lovely date, and they realized they wanted to stop dancing around each other. So they got together. Weeks of dating turned into months, months became years, and three years became one month of engagement, and a modest wedding in Ponyville. They had a daughter shortly thereafter, a unicorn they named Twilight Skies.

Twilight still lives part-time in the castle to deal with her princess duties, but she tries to be as present as possible in the lives of her family, who live elsewhere in Ponyville. Twilight Skies grew up to be a bubbly and confident astronomer and astrologist, and is the apple of her mothers eyes.
