I was inspired recently by loryska and their adorable multi-ship pic “Come and Get Your Love”. I wanted to do something similar, but I have so many ships that I knew I’d have to narrow it down to a theme. So today I give you a collection of little sketches featuring some of JG’s sweetest grownup couples! The standard for grownup implies that the ponies in question are mutually old enough to be parents to CMC-age children or older.

Derpy and Trissie. Best friends who met in the mailroom. You just can’t go wrong with these two gentle ladies, despite the fact that it’s gonna take a while in JG canon for them to shake off their shared shyness and tie the knot. Derpy is Dinky’s mother and Trissie is Twist’s mother. The two of them eventually adopt Forever Stamp.

Concerto and Freddie H. The violin virtuoso and his piano accompanist. Could there be a more melodious duo? These elegant old fellows are just darling and I’ve drawn them exactly once before. I’ll try to remedy that in the future. Freddie and Connie are the adoptive dads of Lyra Heartstrings.

Felonwood and Ponderosa Stomp. A big Cajun alligator-wrestlin’ boy who lost his heart to a big apple-tree-kickin’ country gal. Are we on the same page as far as “Felonwood resembles Babs because she’s the twin sister of Babs’s mother, and Ponderosa resembles Big Mac because he’s Mac’s JG father”? Yeah? Super. Felonwood and Ponderosa are the ma and pa of AJ, Mac and Bloom.

Berry Punch and Minuette. This is the first time I’ve presented a pic of Berry, and I’m finally happy with her. I made a firm decision on the dreadlocks when I accepted I probably wouldn’t do anything with Treehugger (She’s a hippy! She’s a stoner! That’s it! Funny?…). Berry was a prominent botanist who lost credibility in her field and let herself descend into drunken assholery. Her relationship with diminutive local dentist Minuette helped her paste her busted life back together (hence why she very prominently tattooed a reminder of her love on her person). Berry and Minuette are the mother and stepmother of Pinchy.

Silver Sonnet and Sand Dollar. The CEO of one of Equestria’s most significant companies, and her strong right hoof. Sandy is Sonnet’s rock, her prayer warrior, and the one who reminds her not to lose her sense of humor. Sonnet and Sandy are the mother and father of Silver Strings (Octavia) and Silver Spoon.

Foto Finish and Zesty Gourmand. These two gnarly old broads steal the show again. The fashion photographer and the professional hater of food. Their passion speaks for itself, lieblings. Foto and Zesty are the mother and stepmother of BonBon. There’s a very good chance that they’ll eventually adopt Minolta, but I’m still batting that idea against the wall and back.
